Adrienne Young & Little Sadie Born and raised in Florida, Adrienne Young re-invents traditional fiddle tunes to create Pop-inflected old time music. It’s Country music in and old-fashioned, string band kind of way with lyrics about rustic characters inspired by the likes of Benjamin Franklin. Young mixes narratives with mountain holler-stomps and expressions of faith. She is able to add a pop flavor to her music in a way that gets her compared to Allison Krauss and Gillian Welch. While she loves playing the traditional music she also writes acclaimed new music and won 1 st place in the Chris Austin Songwriting contest at MerleFest. Playing the 5-string Banjo with her band Little Sadie she wows folks with her sweet, clear singing voice and sincere love of roots music. She is an avid gardener in her free time and promotes buying foods from local farmers. Young explains that her interest in organic farming came naturally from her interest in traditional music. “You get into traditional music and you can’t help but connect with the sociological environment at the time the music was being formed. And it was agrarian. |

Bio Ritmo Beginning with its birth in 1991 as a rhythm driven drummer's ensemble, Bio Ritmo has sought to connect with its fans every second it spends on stage and with every song it commits to record. With each of its first three recordings Bio Ritmo introduced fans to entirely different facets of its sound. From the diamond in the rough that was 'Que Siga La Musica' to the more refined, more Cuban 'Salsa Galatica' and on to their major label debut, 'Rumba Baby Rumba' (Mercury Records). Having satisfied its curiosity experimenting with new styles and techniques, the band has eagerly returned to its roots. Embracing the stripped-down and straight-up street-wise salsa sound so rare in today's contemporary Latin music scene; Bio Ritmo's "old schools with a twist" approach is converting skeptics and delighting dancers across the globe. "Bio Ritmo's current nine member line-up seems indestructible", says the Independent Weekly and their latest self-titled CD has been described as their most inspired recording to date. Fresh in its energy and confidence, the sound evokes the simplicity and freedom of classic Nuyorican salsa. Flavored with bomba, samba, charanga, and even a bolero, the record treats the listener as well as the dancer with its incredible grooves, inspiring solos, and soul-searching lyrics. It has been chosen as "Editor's Pick" by Descarga.com, a leading authority on Latin music and described as "Terrific old-school salsa...with plenty of sabor and verve." |

Vladimir Zaitsev: Baroque to Beatles Born in Kiev, USSR, Vladimir Zaitsev was introduced to the world of performing arts at a young age. He started playing violin at 4 and switched to piano at 6 as soon as it became apparent that piano could stay in tune longer than violin. By the time he was 15 Vladimir was involved in every high school production: he was the writer, stage and music director, stage designer, choreographer and the leading star. At 16 he entered Kosenko Music College, where he studied piano with Irina Ocheretianaya. Upon graduating with highest honors from the Musical College Vladimir immigrated to the United States where he entered Mannes College of Music as a piano student of Nadia Reisenberg. Upon graduating from Mannes he continued his piano studies with Alexander Eydelman in New York City. Vladimir Zaitsev is a recipient of a number of prestigious awards, including the Julius Katchen Memorial Award, First Prize in the Five Towns Music and Arts Foundation Piano Competition, and First Prize in the Liederkranz Foundation Piano Competition. In 1984 he made his Carnegie Hall debut with International Symphony as a soloist in Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto #1. Vladimir has developed a unique mix of light classical favorites and popular selections presented in an informal and lighthearted style which is rarely associated with a "formal" piano recital. |
