Volunteer Job Descriptions
Saturday, May 17, 11 AM to 7 PM
Sunday, May 18, 11 AM to 6 PM
Moore Square, Downtown Raleigh
Most festival volunteer shifts last about 3 hours. Wear comfortable clothes.
We’ll provide an Artsplosure Festival T-shirt to wear on duty and to keep!
Review the volunteer jobs below, and use the volunteer registration form to submit your volunteer request.
Art Market Set-Up Crew
170 artists will arrive to set-up the Art Market on Saturday, May 17, and we need volunteers to help from 6-11 AM. Set-up assistants will help artists find their spaces, locate the artist hospitality center, and communicate as
necessary with Artsplosure staff members. Set-up crew members may be asked to attend a pre-festival meeting.
Booth Sitter
During the festival, “sitters” occupy and look after exhibitors’ booths so that artists may take
short breaks.
Festival Set-Up Crew
If you can work in the early morning hours, the production crew needs help with miscellaneous tasks Saturday morning, 6:00 AM
to 11:00 AM. Most of this work is of a physical nature (climbing ladders and trees, lifting and moving sound equipment, placing signage,
etc.).
Festival Breakdown Crew
We also need assistance breaking down Sunday night between 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM. Again, most of this work is of a
physical nature.
Large Scale Art Assistant
Help with the operation of large visual art installations in Moore Square Park.
Kidsplosure Activities Helper
Lots of enthusiastic volunteers who love working with children are needed to supervise fun craft activities in Moore Square Park.
Greeter at Donation Station
“Donation Stations” at festival entrances encourage people to donate to Artsplosure (you would be amazed at
how much it costs to put on a “free” event). Volunteers greet visitors, actively seek contributions, and hand
out event information at each station. If you like dealing with the public, this is a great job for you.
Survey Assistant
Survey assistants roam the entire event interviewing attendees about our festival.
General Help
We’ll put you where you can contribute the most. Duties can include hanging signs, running supplies or merchandise to
various event sites, transporting equipment or artists, or filling in last-minute on any of the above jobs when we find gaps.
Office Assistant
Starting in late April right up through the event, our office gets busy and we need support answering the phones,
preparing materials, and putting together mailings. If you have a few hours between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM during the week,
we’d love to schedule you.
