students to show off their artistic talent while competing for a total of $500
in cash prizes.

Over 350 works of art were submitted by Middle and High School students from throughout Wake County to the Artsplosure 2006 competition.  Jurors selected pieces for the show from the following schools:

JAZZ SCHOOL WITH JOEL MARTIN
Jazzical® is a celebration of creative fusion - it's the explosive union of classical composition and jazz innovation ignited with a fresh spirit all its own. Developed by creator/pianist Joel A. Martin, Jazzical captures the dynamic force of multiple cultures and influences, unleashing a kinetic energy that breaks down boundaries and yields whole new worlds of musical expression.

May 15 - May 19 Martin will be conducting workshops at Enloe High School with the jazz improv classes, the wind ensemble, concert band, choral department and recording studio programs. This project will culminate in a concert with the Enloe High School Jazz Ensemble at Artsplosure on Saturday, May 20th at 2:00 pm.

ART AS COMMUNICATION
Loaves & Fishes Poetry Project

Local artists including Anna Podris and Georges le Chevalier will work with
two groups of children ages 5-11 from Loaves & Fishes for a 4-week period.
After selecting a poem from an author whose work they can identify with, the students will select a line from the poem to illustrate using paint, collage or
mixed media. The workshop will culminate in 25 separate works of art that
will be displayed at Artsplosure.

 

Triangle Potters Guild

The Triangle Potters Guild is a non-profit organization that seeks to educate the public and to arouse interest at all levels of skill in the practice, standards, ethics and appreciation of the of the ceramic arts.

We provide opportunities for all members and the public to experience the ceramic arts and to increase skills, knowledge and appreciation of the art form.

Our membership includes professional production potters, studio art potters, serious amateurs, hobbyists, beginners, ceramics educators, sculptors, collectors, and everything in between.

During the Artsplosure weekend Guild members will provide wheel and sculpting demonstrations as well as a kid’s clay table. Member’s display and sale original clay work to support group efforts.
